Fort Stretford (/stretford/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Large City located in the Cosea Provence of the Hobben.

The name Fort Stretford is derived from the Sylvin language, as Fort Stretford was founded by Dyèqtêpí Winterburn Griffin, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Fort Stretford has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). Overview

Fort Stretford was founded durring the early 13th century in winter of the year 1205, by Dyèqtêpí Winterburn Griffin. The establishment of Fort Stretford was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Dyèqtêpí Winterburn Griffin struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Fort Stretford as a prison colony.

Fort Stretford was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fort Stretford is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Fort Stretford is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of broad paverstone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The city has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the city is well defended against anything short of an army. Fort Stretford's cost-cutting-focused defences are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the city as needed.

A look around Fort Stretford gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. Beneath this surface, the people of Fort Stretford can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear Fort Stretford places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual.

Fort Stretford has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Fort Stretford's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

Fort Stretford's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is admittedly strange and non-linear style rooted in defiance of symmetrical shapes. It championed the creation of buildings with a unique visual appearance. the structural norms of classic buildings and deforms or moves away from elementary architectural principles. By including non-linear designs processed into its buildings and favoring fragmentation, this style expressed a form of controlled chaos. Its buildings appear out-of-the-ordinary, draw the eye in immediately and sometimes create a feeling of strangeness. These distorted shapes and structure are not reserved to the building’s outer facade, they destabilize interior elements too, favoring minimalism and play on people’s perceptions by injecting a futuristic touch.
